Cuppa and Cake at the Café Where England Began

Kingston College students have recently opened a café in the town’s market place and we would like to invite cornerHOUSE regulars, to enjoy a special promotional offer to celebrate the launch.

During June, if you quote this special code – KC2 – you will be entitled to a Hot Drink and Cake for just £2.

The Café Where England Began is situated in the town’s most historic building, the 900-year-old All Saints Church.

The café is a joint venture between the church and the college and is run by students as a social enterprise initiative. They not only cook all the food (which is delicious) they also run the café and serve customers.

The eaterie got its name because King Athelstan, viewed by historians as the first king of England, was crowned in the town. In fact he was one of seven Saxon kings whose coronations took place in Kingston.

The 12th century church has a fascinating exhibition on Kingston’s special place in history that you can view while you are enjoying your cuppa and cake.

As well as a Hot Drink and Cake for just £2, there are also delicious lunchtime options available.
