A shared collection of photographs by Alistair Lark and abstract art created on computer by Meta Rocard.
Creating art on computer is Meta’s speciality. She first became inspired in the 1990’s while attending various adult, summer art courses at the Wimbledon School of Art.
For me the ability to create imaginative illustrations and abstract images from drawings, paintings and photographs without binning materials allow me freedom of expression.
My exhibitions: ‘Digital Fantasies’ in 2014 followed by ‘Fun with Photos’ in 2017 featured at the cornerHOUSE. I contributed to many Kingston Arts Exhibitions until they ceased to operate.
Alistair Lark’s enthusiasm for cameras has produced an imaginative insight into what can be observed and achieved in photography. Previous exhibitions include ‘In Focus’ at the cornerHOUSE in 2015.
Adhocism, being the ‘theme’ of this exhibition, is really a celebration of the simplest process in photography. Not becoming bogged down or embedded within the meticulous setting up of a scene, or lighting, or ‘waiting for the right moment’, but rather just capturing a moment, in the moment, when it felt right to do so. For no other reason than it ‘caught my eye’. ‘The simplest of processes.’ The Ad-hoc, part being that there is no underlying theme, other than what the eye sees, and the mind appreciates.
Again, like my first exhibition here, these images are pretty much as they came out of the camera(s), bar one. I hope you enjoy seeing what my eyes have already enjoyed and I hope they convey something to you and draw you in.
Exhibition runs from 8th June until July 2025. Meet the Artists night 17th June 7pm – 9pm.

Katie’s songwriting, and most notably her guitar playing, stems from a time when the steel-stringed instrument was truly finding its voice. Her songs are redolent with the warmth and idealism of the early 70’s folk and songwriter movements. The inclusivity found in her recorded works is most apparent when on stage, with a personal connection and humour that allows the listener time to appreciate the emotion of the music.
Tickets are £14 and are available on-line in advance from https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/FolkthecornerHOUSE
Folk@thecornerHOUSE is a monthly series of concerts showcasing the best in folk music. The aim is to present a wide variety of performers in the wonderful intimate setting of The Corner House. Each evening will have a main guest with a supporting act to start. There are too few venues in Surrey providing outlets for the dazzling wealth of talent available on the folk scene and this venture will hopefully go a long way towards filling that void.

Building on our successful cornerHOUSE “Write it…then write it better” workshops in October 2021, we’ve formed a playwrights group to help each other improve our writing for the stage.
Participants are invited to offer a draft scene/script/part script (5-15 pages) for table-reading and discussion. We plan to meet every six weeks and will usually have time to work on 3-4 such pieces per session.
If you don’t have a draft ready to share, we always need readers (you don’t have to be an actor!) and listeners ready to discuss, suggest and provide constructive feedback.
We meet every six weeks, and costs are £5 per session. Attendance at every session isn’t essential, but numbers are limited to 12, so sign up via Ticket Source to secure a place. You’ll then be sent further details and a contact in case you have any questions.

Rosie Hood is known for her powerful and clear vocals and captivating performances that combine poetic writing with dynamic and honest interpretations of traditional songs.
Rosie is joined by long-term collaborator fiddle-player Nicola Beazley, melodeon-player and percussionist Robyn Wallace and fiddle-player Rosie Butler-Hall to form The Rosie Hood Band. With experience playing for ceilidhs, dancing and in brass bands, the instrumentalists bring a great dynamic lift and drive, continuing Rosie’s vision of re-working traditional English songs, as well as writing and arranging original material, touching on nature, human struggle, women’s voices and unheard stories. With outstanding musicianship and a deep understanding of tradition, Nicola, Rosie and Robyn’s sensitive playing combines perfectly with Rosie’s voice, skilfully and empathetically lifting each song.

Dive into the big blue world of Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo JR! Catch this new stage musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie, with new music by award-winning song writing team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves.
‘Finding Nemo JR’ is being performed as part of our Junior, Ages 7-11 Weekly Theatre Academy classes on a Tuesdays and Saturdays. You can find out how to join the cast by clicking here.

Hailing from the West Coast of Scotland, Ainsley specialises in song writing and songs in Scottish Gaelic and English. Her love of Gaelic song was nurtured whilst studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Trad roots are close to her heart. With her new album however, Ainsley is exploring new sounds and ideas as she pushes out from these roots to create personal material that encompasses big topics close to her heart, including feminism and equality, while unearthing forgotten stories and places that deserve a voice. Ainsley will be joined by Sam Kelly and Toby Shaer. An excellent night in store!
Tickets are £15 and are available on-line in advance from https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/FolkthecornerHOUSE

Four fine musicians whose roots are firmly in the traditional English genre, but who enjoy stretching the limits. Formed in 2015, they realised that a common love for the living traditions of English song and dance music was at their core and began to pursue its evolution, bringing in flavours from a wider palette of musical influences.
They have gained a reputation for being powerfully unique in the English traditional music genre. Their popularity grew rapidly, placing them in great demand to perform at many of the UK’s largest festivals including: Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival, Broadstairs Folk Week, Sidmouth Folk Festival, Whitby Folk Week, Folk East, Oxford Folk Week, Wickham Festival, Gate To Southwell Festival and Towersey Festival as well as internationally at European festivals.
With the release of their first two albums, YES and DARE, between 2017 and 2019, they received rave plaudits in the music press including 4 and 5 star reviews in FATEA, Songlines and RnR Magazines and performed a Valentine’s Day live session on Mark Radcliffe’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Show.
Now firmly established as one of the UK’s top bands, their third studio album THREE, explores and reimagines a selection of well-loved traditional songs as well as their usual hearty take on some romping dance tunes. John Spiers and Phil Beer appear as guest musicians on two of the tracks.
Although just four people, they create a huge sound and have been described as the world’s smallest big band.

Cellar Door Theatre Company presents
By Moises Kaufman & The Tectonic Theatre Project
Directed & Designed by Brittany Rex and Tom CarterOne of the most-performed theater pieces in America about the brutal murder of Matthew Shepard and the town in which it happened.
“A terrific piece of theater, history, and life…. Nothing short of stunning…. A theatrical and human event.” – New York magazine
On October 7, 1998, a young gay man was discovered bound to a fence outside Laramie, Wyoming, savagely beaten and left to die in an act of brutality and hate that shocked the nation. Matthew Shepard’s death became a national symbol of intolerance, but for the people of the town, the event was deeply personal. In the aftermath, Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project went to Laramie and conducted more than 200 interviews with its citizens. From the transcripts, the playwrights constructed an extraordinary chronicle of life in the town after the murder.
Hailed as one of the most captivating and encompassing pieces of contemporary theatre, the play shocks, challenges, and moves all who watch it as it reveals the lowest depths of hatred and greatest heights of compassion that lies within all human beings in any seemingly average community.
Join Cellar Door Theatre Company as they take over the cornerHOUSE to present this astonishing drama.
A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the Matthew Shepherd Foundation to amplify the story of Matthew Shepard to inspire individuals, organisations and communities to embrace the dignity and equality of all people.
