About South Side

South Side Theatre Academy is an award-winning, cutting-edge theatre academy dedicated to breaking down barriers, empowering young people and increasing diversity in youth theatre through affordable access to exceptional theatrical training in Surbiton. At South Side, we believe every performer has a story to tell. Our weekly classes, holiday camps and exciting rehearsals help young people grow in confidence, creativity, and teamwork, while preparing for our spectacular stage shows. From age four upwards, everyone has the chance to belong, to grow, and to shine at South Side.

The Award

In April, we were thrilled to win the 'Best in Culture and Arts' award at the Kingston Borough Business Awards. This prestigious accolade recognises organisations, teams, and individuals who make an outstanding contribution to the vibrancy, creativity, and cultural life of the local community.

The award was presented during an electric evening at the DoubleTree Hilton in Kingston, bringing together businesses, charities, and community organisations from across the borough to celebrate excellence and achievement. South Side were honoured to be shortlisted alongside exceptional finalists, including the Rose Theatre Kingston and Get Better Books, before being announced as the winner.

Receiving this recognition is a testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication of everyone involved with South Side. South Side is incredibly proud to play a role in enriching Kingston's cultural landscape and grateful for the continued support of our community, partners, participants, and audiences.
