"The Art of Everyday Life" - Exhibition of work by Maria Lucic
Maria was born in Belgrade, Serbia and during her time at secondary school she attended various art classes at the local arts college. As Maria loves science just as much as art, she studied Geology at University, whilst continuing with her Art classes. Maria came to England 32 years ago and for the last 22 years has been attending Art Classes led by various academic Artists, including Michael Collins from 2016 onwards.
‘I love to paint landscapes and urban scenes, but my favourite subject is intimate domestic scenes, ordinary moments in the lives of ordinary people. I’m inspired by the works of Bonnard and Vuillard, where the background, colours and painting style usually attract just as much of the onlooker’s attention as the subject.’
Maria usually uses oil, often a water-mixable oil as my media, but sometimes experiments with mixed media. She creates 3D paintings out of tissue paper, pouring acrylic and sculpture foam carving blocks. Maria also paints on textiles, especially decorating children’s sweatshirts.
Maria’s exhibition runs at the cornerHOUSE from 25th February to 21st April.
