Emma Burton - Meet the Artist

Emma is an artist, occasional writer, accidental project manager and shameless stationary hoarder. She works mainly in acrylics, pastel, mixed-media and digital.

After getting hooked on life drawing in 2021, Emma has focused her work on the endlessly fascinating subject of people. She loves the way a portrait captures how one person sees another. In this exhibition, she explores how portraits change depending on whether the subject is a stranger, a friend, a close family member or herself.

Born and raised in Surbiton - Emma currently lives just down the road in Raynes Park, along with her partner Mark and a gang of five pet rats. Emma and Mark bought their first house last year and agreed that Emma could have the larger bedroom for her studio, on condition that her artistic chaos stayed in there. Emma has mostly succeeded.
