Agatha Christie and True Crime - A talk by Dr Jonathan Oates - Tuesday, October 6 at 7.30pm
Agatha Christie is well known as an author of crime fiction, but she also made many references to true crime in her books.
Dr Crippen, Jack the Ripper and the Brides in the Bath murders are all feature.
Some of her plots and characters are based on real crimes. These include the backstories to The Mousetrap and Murder on the Orient Express.
This talk by Dr Jonathan Oates, Ealing borough archivist and author of more than 50 books, investigates the interplay between real and fictional crime portrayed in Agatha's works.
It is based on a book written by Jonathan and Swedish historian Dr Anna-Lena Berg called The Crimes That Inspired Agatha Christie The Facts Behind the Fiction.
