Alistair Sherwood launches his new album at the cornerHOUSE!
Alistair is a folk singer-songwriter, poet, and performing artist from Co Offaly in Ireland, he grew up with his family beside the Clara Bog Nature Reserve. Now living in Hersham Surrey, he graduated from The Three Counties School of Music (Gloucester University) with a Diploma Fellowship and his poetry has been awarded by The R.C.Sherriff Trust.
His songs are both balladeering and chorus rousing. His music rises out of the Irish and British acoustic folk music and sea shanty traditions. Songs are of a storytelling, spiritual, humorous, and obscure mystical nature. Alistair is on a short autumn tour to launch his new folk music release “Boy from the Bog”. The Cornerhouse Arts Centre is the 3rd date on the tour.
The evening performance will showcase Sea Shanties, Comedy Songs, Irish/British Folk and some Troubadour covers from the 1968-1978 period.
Alistair usually performs Solo accompanying his songs with Acoustic Guitar, Classical Guitar, Banjo and Ukulele. On occasion during the tour his wife Naomi may make a guest appearance and Yvonne McGuinness might take to the stage with her Accordion.
“A voice reminiscent of Mike Scott or Bob Dylan” Maverick Music Magazine.
“Trawlermen, a great Sing-along, good singer and guitar player” Kent Folk
“An engaging and humorous performance” “I could hear every word sung clearly”
“A very enjoyable evening, I would come again next year” Audience Quotes
