The Vagina Monologues

Sat 20 Mar 2010

You could be part of a production of the worldwide hit show The Vagina Monologues at the cornerHOUSE this month. Bounce Theatre is looking for women to act in the award-winning play by Eve Ensler which will be performed at the arts centre in Douglas Road, Surbiton, on Saturday, March 20.
Performed globally in communities and by celebrities, the show emerged through a series of interviews Ensler conducted with women about their life experiences and relationships with one another. It's comic, poignant, verbatim theatre.
Director Louise Pendry said : "We are putting the show on in 24 hours and welcome as many women as possible to work together to perform. Women are invited individually, in pairs, with friends, mums and daughters together, in a group... They can say as little as one word up to a whole monologue!"
Performers will use prompt cards, so there is no need to learn your part. Under 18s will need permission from their parents or guardians to perform in the play. Rehearsals take place from 5pm onwards on Friday, March 19 and from 1pm on Saturday, March 20.
The show starts at 8pm on the Saturday. It will last for just over an hour.
"Our production is part of V-Day, a global movement calling for an end to violence against women and children. Women across the world are performing the play to raise money for causes locally and globally. This production is Kingston's contribution to the movement," added Louise.
Any profit will be shared between Kingston Women's Refuge, Haiti charities and the IDAI orphanage for seriously disabled children in Bolivia.
If you would like to perform in the show and would like more information about the play and the rehearsals, call 07980 210705 or email Louise at louise@bouncetheatre.com
