Home truths emerge during a wake at the cornerHOUSE in April.
As two families, who six months earlier came together to make preparations for a wedding, gather once more to mourn an uncle, various secrets are revealed.
Celebration, a play by Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall, follows the fortunes of two working class families in a town in the north of England.
Although not strictly a comedy, there are moments of real humour, mixed with some poignant and tender scenes – a great play for lovers of soap opera.
Director Chris Smith said: “The play is about real life in a working man’s environment and is probably one of the most challenging productions we have ever undertaken. It is a tribute to Keith Waterhouse, a great writer, who died in September last year. He produced a whole range of work for television, cinema and theatre, including Billy Liar and the highly acclaimed Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell.” |
