Comedian and cornerHOUSE favourite Tim Vine will be doing a sit-down, stand-up at the arts centre in August.
Tim, star of the hit TV comedy series Not Going Out and regular at the arts centre in Douglas Road, Tolworth, has managed to tear the ligaments in his knee during a football match with fellow comedians.
“I managed to tackle myself,” said Tim, who is currently walking around on crutches. “It made a noise like someone tearing denim - but I wasn't wearing any denim at the time.”
So there will quite a bit of sitting down during the stand-up routine for the striker who managed to score two goals in the ill-fated match before he had to limp off.
The BAFTA award winner explained what the audience could expect from the show on August 7.
“It’s me messing around and trying out new jokes,” said Tim, who is trying out new material prior to a nationwide 42-show tour early next year. “It’s going to be hit and miss, but I’ve always found the cornerHOUSE is a good place to do both. I’m planning for the genre of the show to stay in the category of comedy, but there have been some nights when it has strayed into tragedy!”
Tim said that the performance would not be suitable for people over the age of 107.
“Those people should be in bed resting. One laugh at that age could be fatal,” he said. “On second thoughts, they should be OK to be at one of my shows. But seriously, it is suitable for all ages - kind of. It will be completely clean and rude-word free, but equally I don’t want to play to a room full of 15-year-olds, thank you. Fifteen-year-olds scare me.”
Tim said he has a particular affection for the cornerHOUSE.
“I have performed many times at cH. I love it because the people are lovely and supportive and I feel like they are friends. As a result it allows me to feel free to try new stuff out and fall flat on my face and still enjoy the experience!”
