Our April Art Exhibition features the work of Michael McFadden.
Meet the artist at our gala evening on 5th April from 7 to 9pm.
Meanwhile, Michael tells us about himself and the exhibition here;
I have always been curious about life … about people, about nature, about form and function… Due to a nervous breakdown in 2003 I have been trying to piece together my life and sense of self bit by bit, piece by piece.
After gaining my degree in Art & Drama at York St John’s in 1988, I have continued on my artistic journey. The evolution of my style is a journey in itself as it has evolved into a wider and deeper appreciation of different approaches. I embrace a wider range of styles now than I have ever done, and gone deeper into some more so than others. It’s almost like I am experimenting again, post-degree, with a renewed sense of both liberation and bewilderment. I am prepared to be lost and to know that this is a journey in itself. As the Zen quote goes, ‘When you see a fork in the road, take it’
In a sense, my work reflects the relationship between integration and fragmentation …. of nature and nurture …. of doing and undoing … My interest in Yoga has furthered my enquiries and understanding (or not!) of what it means to be human.
I hope you enjoy the exhibition.
Michael’s exhibition runs from 31st March – 28th April and he can be contacted on
