volunteers
The cornerHOUSE is run and maintained entirely by volunteers.
The maintenance of the building is done by a team led by the trustees. They are
always looking for more help in maintaining both the inside and the outside of the
building. This can include painting, electrical work, plumbing, carpentry and general
expert DIY. Anyone with any expertise or interest in these fields would be welcome.
For most performances, the cornerHOUSE provides a licensed bar. The proceeds from
the bar go to the cornerHOUSE, and the bar is stocked by a volunteer bar manager.
On the nights of performances, the bar needs at least two people to sell drinks,
wash up glasses and to generally keep the bar area clean and tidy. We only sell
beer, wine and soft drinks, so it makes it easier for volunteers when they are serving
customers. If you feel you would like to help in this area, please do get in touch
- and don't worry if you have no previous experience, we offer full support and
guidance.
Some production companies provide their own front of house and box office staff.
For those that do not have this facility the cornerHOUSE also provides this service
through its volunteers. On the nights of shows at least one person is required in
a front-of-house capacity to show people to their seats, collect ticket stubs and
generally be on hand to help audience members as necessary. If this is something
you feel you might like to do, we would welcome your involvement. Again previous
experience is not necessary - full guidance will be given.
In addition to front of house, box office volunteers are needed to sell tickets
on the nights of some performances, sell programmes and generally be on hand to
help audience members. This is a task that does not require people to remain at
the theatre for the entire duration of the performance. Often they can leave after
helping latecomers.
Performances can be from one night only to four nights in a row, but volunteers
can help for one performance only, or more as they wish.
If you would like to volunteer in any way, then please do get in touch. Be assured
of a very warm welcome; you will quickly find yourself in a circle of supportive
friends.
The cornerHOUSE is a community which always welcomes new faces. Volunteers can do
as much or as little as they wish or as their time allows. It really is a great
place to be involved with. Please make contact via
